INTESA SODITIC

Who is Intesa Soditic?

The formation of Intesa Soditic Trade Finance Limited ("Intesa Soditic") has been the result of a natural synergy arising between three complementary organisations which have successfully co-operated in the financing of foreign trade over many years.
The relationship between the partners has always been close. Fineurop has customarily channelled the bulk of its business through Banca Commerciale Italiana (now Banca Intesa), and the same bank, although it has no direct interest today, was a founding shareholder of Soditic when it was established in 1972.
In 1997 it was agreed to merge the forfaiting activities of the Banca Commerciale Italiana and Fineurop Groups and establish a new London based Company to handle the processing and distribution of forfaiting transactions. Intesa Soditic was therefore created, owned 50% by Banca Commerciale Italiana, 25% by Fineurop and 25% by Soditic all through group companies.
This joint venture brings together the origination capabilities, financial strength and world-wide network of Banca Intesa with the generation, placement and specialised forfaiting skills of Fineurop and Soditic.
The company’s prime function is to structure, purchase and place assets originated by its shareholders. Additionally Intesa Soditic is active in the Secondary Market as both a buyer and seller of assets.
Intesa Soditic plays to its strengths. It is already a leader in financing Italian exporters, which is its main competitive advantage. Internationally, Intesa Soditic is represented through Banca Intesa’s global branch network.
